My wife and I visited *** Dyer Toyota today, for the battery check up. We knew the auxillary battery of my Prius is dead, since we jump started to get there.

However, we also know that the hybrid battery was fully charged around the afternoon, and when we arrived, 7/8 level. Actually, we are planning to buy another vehicle this summer, as a second car (not trade-in and purchase). So, we've been looking around, and when a sales manager asked some questions, we shared our plan to make a purchase within several months. Then, the manager asked us, what is our current car.

Then, our horrible experience started. They started lying that our hybrid battery is completely dead, and it will cost $4,200 to fix it. Then, the person (female: Merida? something similar) told us that we ONLY got two options: (1) fix the car by paying $4,200 right now.

(2) trade in the car, but without fixing the battery it will not be evaluated much. But, we knew that the problem was not from (1) the hybrid battery nor (2) the generator, we asked again about the auxillary battery. Then, the person started making another lie. The auxillary battery is over killing, because our hybrid battery is completly dead.

And also, she told that our hybrid battery cannot hold any electricity, which is a completely lie. So, she tried to explain about the 10 year warranty of the fixing option, and also about the trade-in option, again. Since we need two cars, although we are planning to purchase an additional car, we do not plan on selling our Prius. Also, since we are going to move to another State within a month, *** Dyer's 10 year warranty doesn't matter at all, even though we change the Hybrid battery.

After getting this information, she told us that the car is under additional checking, since we need to make sure the hybrid battery is the real source of the problem.. After 3 minutes (what?? how that short??), she returned to us and said: "very good news! For now, just changing the auxillary battery maybe enough, but if the battery dies again, you have to change it." So, within 3 minutes, the service quote decreased from $4,200 to $230.

Her face turned from smile to slightly upset. It just took 15 minutes to change the auxillary battery after that. After changing the auxillary battery, our Prius got 51.2 mpg, which is as good as a new hybrid battery's condition. If we trusted them today, we might have wasted tons of our money.

Probably, they just wanted to sale a new car, while trying to trade in our current vehicle almost for free. They are usually good if you just use the service department.

However, once the sale person is involved, we can guarantee that you will have a totally horrible, terrible experience from them. DO NOT TRUST *** DYER TOYOTA.
